This tutorial shows you how to create simple chrome pipes which can be used to spice up an interface and give your images a technical or scary look. |

Create a new white image. This image is 200*20 pixels. |

Set the background color to black. |

Erase every second column using <Image> -> Script-Fu -> Alchemy -> Erase every other row. Optimal settings are show here. |

Your result should look like this. |

Now, create a new layer above the first one. Doubleclick on the gradient fill tool button and set its options like shown here (bilinear gradient is important!). |

Use the gradient fill tool to create a gradient like this. Play with its position. Best results can be achieved when setting the starting point (white) at 1/3 of the image and the ending point (black) to image's bottom. |

Set the gradient layer's mode to "multiply". |

To make the pipe look more naturally or scary use the airbrush tool to add details like blood spots and/or shades. |
