| making effect blends inside of a single image. | |
fig.1 |
1. take any colorful image. the best choice is to take a real photo or anything "meaningful" |
fig.2 |
2. open the "layers, channels and paths" window. create a copy of "Background" layer and add a mask to the copy. say bye-bye to the real background layer. |
fig.3 |
3. copy the image into the mask. play a bit with brightness levels of the new mask. it would be better if the average color of the mask becomes 50% gray. |
fig.4 |
4. choose the "mask to selection" in the layer's properties. you won't need the mask anymore. the selection becomes something like an outline of the source image. |

5. now for the fun part. apply filter after filter to the selection, inverting it after every other effect. i used cubism | ctrl+i | waves | flatten image. |
| 6. voila'! the effect-blended image is ready. squares blend softly with waves now. | |
PS sorry if the image here seems a bit messy. it's because of low contrast. the more colorful(maybe the sunny) images look cooler.
PPS the best use for the tutorial is applying "sharp and straight" effects to one part and smooth ones to another.
